PR6 Directory, Clean Links, Non-recip

Hello,

I'm new to the community so first want to say hello to everyone.

With the friendlies out of the way I'd like to post a relatively new directory that is open for free, non-recip submissions (but you can sure as hell link back :lol.

DIRECTORY DESCRIPTION
The BDC Concepts Directory was created to serve as a links management tool for the initial linking campaign for the main site. Since then it has acquired a decent rank and is now open for general submission.

MAJOR DIRECTORY LISTINGS (main site)
ODP Listed
Yahoo Directory
Microsoft SBD

FREE SUBMISSION FEATURES
1) SEO URLs
2) Clean links
3) 48 hour review

PREMIUM SUBMISSION FEATURES
1) SEO URLs
2) Clean links
3) 48 hour review
4) Dedicated detail page with 1 outbound link
5) 3 additional site links ala MS SBD style
6) Your choosing of anchor text
7) Sponsor listing page
8) ...the usual listing above free submissions

DRAWBACKS AND SUBMISSION ADVICE
Now, before I get started with this section I want to warn those that are easily offended. I use curse words. I drink lots of beer. I tell people exactly what the hell is on my mind.

I offer free submissions as a way of giving back to the community. I love open source and am an active coder for the osCommerce project. However, it pisses me off to no end when someone tries to take advantage. So, don't abuse the resource...

There is a daily limit of 50 free submissions to the directory. This was done for 2 reasons: (1) to keep the backlog reasonable and ensure that EVERYONE gets a fast review time regardless of paid or not and (2) I have to pull someone off the line to jump on the computer and review the sites. Please understand that my chosen profession is not SEO, directories, or online business. I have a manufacture company (main site) and spend my day manufacturing goods for distribution. I pay an employee to review these sites...so, the cost for me is out of pocket unless it is a premium submission.

So, don't waste my money or his time by submitting your site to a bull**** category. Everyone here knows the game...submit to the right category or unless the website absolutely knocks our socks off it will be rejected.

However, the bright side to the 50 free submissions daily is that it offers you a guarantee: IF you submit to the correct category and IF you are one of the 50 daily your site will be included within 48 hours.

I don't play the page rank game and look at this as a sharing of spider traffic. So far this month the directory has the following spider stats:

MSNBot 12914+198
Inktomi Slurp 10911+1096
Googlebot 8906+466

So, I make no guarantees that any rank will be transferred but will promise a ****load of spiders.

FINALLY
Everyone loves free beer. I am no different...otherwise I would not contribute to several open source projects. However, if your budget allows please consider a premium submission as it helps me pay the directory bills. If you absolutely cannot fork over $15 for a kick *** directory submission then at least consider a link back.

Thanks...and don't everyone submit at once since there is that 50 free submissions daily limit!

Hi Chemo, welcome to the forum.

While I'll not be submitting any sites at present, I most certainly have added your resource as one to follow up on when I start another directory campaign. I personally appreciate your style and want to say thank you for sharing a great directory resource that hopefully many will properly take advantage of and not waste any of your employees time, and maybe make a small beer contribution. ;)

Hehehe.

Nono don't look at me ;)

How strict is your top level url rule BTW? I only have the one site (in a subdirectory) but I don't really want to fully redirect the top url to that...

The intent of the directory is to provide a means of increasing spider traffic exposure to websites that are properly categorized. If the page is content rich then it'll be evaluated as such. However, most of the spammers use that technique so it is watched with a critical eye. If your page (or subdirectory) is quality it'll be approved....

The hardest part about running a directory for me thus far has been the constant battle with spammers. The top level domain, email from domain being submitted, 50 per day limit, and other measures were put into place to afford maximum opportunity for real submissions and minimize the affect from spammers. Hopefully those good sites won't be lost in the cracks...

Bobby

Nice job Chemo. Submitted 4 sites, 2 premium, 2 free. It's good to see nice, clean, free directories that pass PR. Bravo!
