To me one major aspect that I do not enjoy with most directories is they let anyone in. Even junk sites that were written in 5 minutes, look very ameteurish, and offer no value. If there are strict inclusion standards that would be a bonus. You dont necessarily have to mention this up front, but do look at the site and make sure all the links work, it looks half way decent.. etc.. If it looks like one of those generated sites from a geocities apps with a lousy feel then it shouldn't be included. This would keep the directory of top quality. To be able to go to a directory and actually have the sites be USEFUL would be great.

I totally agree with timothy911, he made a very good point.

Also I would agree that DMOZ is the best directory out there right now, but it is very far from perfect.

Any other suggestions for a "perfect directory" except the point timothy911 made?

Links are real links that pass on PR
Pages where links reside actually have PR to pass on

It also must be widely accepted and used - what good is the perfect directory if no one knows about it??

Fast page loading, no paid ads mixed in with the search results, and, of course, my sites at the top!
