People buying into Bluefind for links
Where oh where has it's PR gone, oh where oh where could it be?

Most of the pages on BlueFind lost their visible PR some time ago. The home page retained it's PR until this update and now that appears to have gone too.
Interestingly some of their other directories are still displaying good PR across most of the pages so don't know why this has only happened to BlueFind. Rather harsh as it is quite a neat and tidy directory. |

I remember a similar thing happening to other otherwise well-respected directories. WebAtlas (not as old as Bluefind - mind you) springs to mind.
Turned out it was something silly that caused the drop: 302-style linking. What did Bluefind use for linking out??? Looks like plain html now...

It might have to do with that script it uses. To many empty categories triggered some sort of penalty.

Does a dir as big as that one still have empty cats? Wow*
But yeah - empty cats, especially the ones that have no real content but DO have ads, are a bit of a nono these days. * sorry - that's a different directory altogether - hehe |

Though you and JS have a nice little feud going, it's not wise to gloat, William.

One thing: John Scott did ban WilliamC from his forums, and yet he stickied the thread where he makes tons of accusations. This didn't allow WilliamC to respond.
Sort of low class to me. I think I might have flown to Seattle and beat his butt in person for that. |

Ah - I remember - vaguely.
Let's not get into that again - heh. |

I agree, it's an old story: but you can understand why WilliamC wants to dance on Bluefind's grave now.
I think the big problem with Bluefind is they didn't act very responsive to anyone's concerns. |

Have you seen the photo of John that he uses as his avatar? If that's him then he doesn't look like the type of guy who regularly gets his butt kicked. Looks like he would usually be the one kicking butt !! |

LOL. I think you're referring to his "snarling avatar" ;)
If you ever read a big thread at an SEO board, it's almost funny to watch the avatar heads: it seems like they're talking |

I guess the "...submit to bluefind or else..." says it all
Still - everyone can hide behind an avatar - beit cuddly and friendly like mine and click4's, or scary like l3vi's and thewormman's (to name but a few) |
