Forget directory submissions you just start link building with relevant website one and reciprocal.......

I moved your post to this forum; if you check some of the threads in here you'll find several huge lists of directories.

As Prof Stan indicates, directories aren't the best source of links for SEO purposes, but they are free

they have said right but in the begning i mean for new site one should begin his work from directory submission.
as for thembased linkbuilding most of them site are generally either paid or reciprocal.

Agreed just forget directories and focus on more important things. Submit a press releases, article, write blog posts, network with other bloggers, buy some high pr links on old sites.
