Since you have the "directory" down two directories, pr won't show up for anyone that exchanges with you. This should be posted in link exchange, since the main site sells vacuums.

What the ???... Of course they will. Google ranks "pages" not "sites". 'something.com/directory' would be treated as a subdomain, therefore a seperate entity. But a recip is required so you are right in suggesting it should go in link exchanges. |

I was referring to the pr bleed off due to the way it is set up. Until the main site jumps to at least five, none of the link pages will have pr. Should have clarified. :-?

I knew what you meant but mauro22it may not have.
I just threw my 2 cents in so he didnt misinterpret your post. With any luck and backlinks going to his directory homepage, with a pr5 all inner pages will get a pr4... for a while the pages under the pr4 ones, will not get PR, but will eventually sit on about 2-3. so mauro22it, you need to aim at getting A LOT of backlinks to end up with a high PR so that your link partners will see some benefit, of being listed... |

It's even a 'problem' with some of the greater directories. If you're in a niche, you're bound to end up on pages deep down, with little or 0 PR. Then again: if you're in a niche it is prob easier to compete, and you won't need the heavy PR as much. It's a balance I think. Needless to say I don't benefit much from regular directories, but the subdomain types (e.g. myniche.pages.c0m) are not too bad. At least wysiwyg.

I thought the same thing that I should get backlinks going to the directory home page, however I wasn't sure because the directory is a sub-page and the web site focus on cleaning equipment and health related products.
I just wonder one point; If the number of back link to the directory page increases, will this negatively influence the ranking of the main page of the site which is focusing on exporting cleaning equipment and health related products? Thanks in advance for your advice. Mauro |

Not in your case as the directory would be treated as its own entity since its in its own directory (subdomain) You could always link back to your main site from your directory to pass on the pr.. |
