Hi udaya,

Getting listed in directories can bring you traffic and links; links are a valuable seo commodity because the number/value of backlinks and the anchor text used in the links have a great effect on your ranking position... However, links in directories are nowhere near as valuable as they used to be in this respect...
Having said that, directory submissions are easy (but boring after a while - lol), inexpensive and any traffic gained is free
