Get ready for Yahootomi
I read this article on Planet Ocean today. Thought you might all find this interesting:
Get ready for Yahootomi
The whisper in the halls at the San Jose Search Engine Strategies Conference in August was that Yahoo is set to replace Google at any time with Inktomi results to power its default search. We've already seen occasional public testing of the Inktomi results at Yahoo during the last of August.
We expect the switch sometime in September, perhaps to coincide with a new Shopping Search that Yahoo is also working on - a feature that we expect will be good news for Yahoo Store owners.
So what should you expect when Yahoo switches? There is no doubt that Google traffic will drop, and Inktomi related traffic will pickup. How much, will vary depending on your site's visitor demographics. If Yahoo currently provides a good deal of your traffic, you may see a significant traffic shift when the switch occurs unless you're ranking well in Inktomi.
To checkup on how your "showing" within the Inktomi database, use the Pure Inktomi search engine at http://search.positiontech.com
