Directory submission question

I have seen that all the directories ask the webmasters to sumbit their website url freely. They aslo dont ask for reciprocal linking. But during submission they ask for a reciprocla linking page where they want their directory url to be present first before we submit our links to that particular directory.I just dont understand this!!!When they are saying its one way linking then why do they ask for reciprocal linking?????Also after our link is accepted can we remove their links from our pages??[B]Can that be done?????

It's nothing like that as u have assumed. Free directories are free directories. Not all of them need a reciprocal link. May be u must have got confused seeing the reciprocal link section in the form while filling it up. Generally it is optional and we have huge number directories that accept your link ithout any cost and without a reciprocal link.

Just for example check out,

Cant say exactly about that but i find it quite worthless to go in for a reciprocal exchange with a directory. So, never bothered about having their link on my page.

You can get lots of free directories that don't require you link back to their site.
