A stroke of luck

Well , I've been submitting a few sites to Yahoo! for about 6 months now....

1 of which got in a few days after I used the backdoor....

Could be a coinsidence but who knows....

there really tite though....

1 of my sites is none commercial with tuns of regional info about Long island New York.... cant get it in for nothing...

The site is actually a value to there directory....
and they still wont let me in...

I submit about once every 3 weeks.

6 months now and I cant get it in....

The site has over 150 pages of regional information about Long Island New York and a forum for that area only....

I even wrote them a letter...

No luck -

I went and looked at your site. If you figure Yahoo looks at each site for about 5 seconds, I wouldn't approve that one either. The problem is even though there might be lots of good content on it, the front page has too many ad banners. And the picture with the girl I think is just a graphic, but it looks like another ad banner (because of the text over it). And having just a picture of a girl for a Long Island site makes it look like a cheesy sex site or something, rather than a Long Island info/community site (assuming that's what it is).

I would clear all of that stuff off of there, make the text bigger and easier to read, maybe even tone down the bright colors, and Yahoo and actual visitors will be more likely to use the site.

Take a look at the most successful community website of all time and notice how plain and boring it looks... http://craigslist.org

the fastclick stuff is definetly killing u from getting a freebie listing. as a dmoz and zeal editor, i can tell u from an editors point of view and from zeal's standards that your site appears to be established for the primary purpose of generating income from advertising. hence, it is a commercial site and u must plunker down the $300 bucks to get that site listed.

u may get lucky and get an editor who just doesn't care and pushes u through, but i wouldn't hold my breath for it.

sorry... just my opinion.
