Submitted, forgot, Url changed now he came!

Hello everyone,

Need your expert advise, I submitted to DMOZ (what does that mean btw) about 4 months ago, well nothing happend since then, I forgot about it and in the meantime I had a url change and well today I saw that an editor from dmoz was on my old site but not on my new on.

should I wait? or should I email them about the change (there are links provided to the new site) or should I just hit myself for not contacting them earlier?

regards

Hi Viggen

Can you explain what you mean when you say that a DMOZ editor was on your website. Did the site eventually get listed in the ODP??

If you are currently listed and you know what category you are in, my advise would be to go to that category where you're listed, cick on the "Update URL" link at the top of the page and follow the instructions. You might want to take a look at the ODP guidelines in this case as you may have been previously rejected if your site did not meet specific standards.

If you are not listed then I'd just forget about everythig thus far and submit your new URL to the most appropriate category!

If all else fails, ask those guys over at www.resource-zone.com

Hello Darin!

I am not listed at dmoz yet, but I got at my webstats the following referer link

http://dmoz.org:8080/editors/editcat-unrev.cgi....

So I assume this is an editor that came, how long does it take till you (if) get registered after he visited your site?

thanks for your help!

regards

I'm not exactly sure because I am not an editor.

I would imagine that he/she would make a decision immediately and then add / reject the listing. If he/she accepts the listing then it might still take a few days before it shows up. I think they regenerate modified pages every 24 hours .. I'm not sure on that one!!

Any of the editors that post here know?

If a listing is accepted or modified, it appears immediately in the category, although new listings take some days to show up in searches.

Congratulations viggen - with luck you'll also be in the Google directory soon - maybe not this update, because they may use the RDF dump that was generated before your site was accepted, but certainly the update after next.

Thanks, Gringo!

What I found interesting, is that the editor started a new category because of me and added 2 sites that did not even submit.

Well I just have a RPG Fans site so non comercial and it is just a hobby so I have a rather relaxed approach to things, however it is sort of game on its own now for me to get as many links (from the weirdest places)!

btw having a Seti Group Site that has a page rank 6 (every Group Page has Rank 6 at start) is that cheap way to get a good page rank link?

Would be nice, wouldn't it? Unfortunately, this is just estimated PR, which isn't passed on.
