so...how would this affect me ?
ODP recently bumped my site into a subcategory-I went from Baby/Blankets and Bedding to Baby/Blankets and Bedding/Nursery due to the editor doing some organizing, or that's what I was told when asked.Anyhoo...Now all these other engines, including Google's Directory, have me in the main Blankets and Bedding, since most don't even have that subcategory of Nursery.When/if they do the RDF (did I get that right;) ) dump, where will I go?Will I still be in the main in all these directories if they don't have that subcategory (Google for example) or will I become lost and dropped
Doe anyone know, by chance? Thanks

Hummm
That is interesting. Why would Google not have that sub directory? Is it a new directory? Perhaps when the RDF dump comes the new sites will get that category too. This is a question for an ODP editor or someone with extensive experience with ODP.

Google won't have that sub-directory if it has been created in the last 3 months. This is because Google's directory is still using the RDF dump from 19th September.
Unfortunately, Kat, when ODP are able to produce a fully-working RDF dump (with category id's) and Google updates its directory with this data, you'll find yourself in this new sub-directory in Google as well. Gringo. |

I don't know why they don't have that subcategory-I don't believe it's new, maybe it is, lol, or I just never noticed it before

That's what I thought, seemed strange that Google wouldn't have that sub directory

oh well phooey, lol, Gringo...I wouldn't be so upset if it wasn't for the fact my half of my main competition sites are still in the main and not in the sub. When I asked about that, they really has no reason why I got bumped and they didn't
As it stands right now, I'm in limbo anyways-they moved me but their Search, they said, won't be updated for two-three weeks. So anyone looking for me goes to Blanket and Bedding, and I'm not there, I'm in Nursery, but it doesn't show that yet...sigh... |

Hi Kat
That new category was created on the 4th of Feb... Dmoz has done a RDF dump, but that new category was created after that, so your listing will still remain in the Shopping/Children/Blankets_and_Bedding in Google for now... When the RDF dump is done next and Google updates with that, the Nursery category will be created on google... Hope that helps... Julian.... Dmoz Editor |
