Site listed in three days

Myself beeing editor in DMOZ it is interesting to observe speed of acceptence of my sites submitted to other DMOZ categories.
Now I was very lucky, as the directory I needed to submit in to has an active editor, zero waiting submissions and so I got submitted in few days.
I submitted similar site three months ago, but the category does not have any editor and I am waiting till now. I even tried to apply for this category, but I was refused, as I was told that I am affiliated with sites in this category.

I submitted my new site to dmoz which is very content rich (searchable data) and useful to my target audience.

I have yet to see it listed, or even an email back saying no.

Arnt there enough editors? Im sure there are tons of people applying, what gives

I answered through private message.

Actually your site looks as an affiliate, but I am not familiar with your 'widgets'.

I think the category you suggested is correct, anyhow I have to admit, that I am editor in a category very far from hardware.

Affiliate site is site selling product of an internet wholesaler (like selling products of Amazon*com on your website or selling accommodation based on agreement with Hotels*com). I have to change my opinion, your site is not affiliate site.

We can discuss title and description of your submission in this forum, as it might be helpful for other submitters.

Xaver - If a category does not have an editor how is a submission handled? Is it totally random and just goes in a list? Or, does it just keep moving up the directory structure until it finds a editor and gets put in line? example: a/b/c/d/e(submitted category with no editor) so it defaults to a/b/c(has editor) so he handle all submissions for anything that falls under his category (d-z). Is that why there is such a wait sometimes?

I submitted too: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Bedroom/Bedding/Down/

Your site stays in the a/b/c/d/e queue even if the category does not have an editor. Editor permissions "cascade" meaning that the editor for a/b/c/d can edit a/b/c/d/e and the editor for for a/b/c can edit a/b/c/d and a/b/c/d/e. The DMOZ also has editall permissions and Meta editors who can edit everything.

So what your saying is that I either have to wait for an editor to be appointed or the a/b/c editor to decide to go deeper in the category too look at my site? I show that the closest editor is in the /Bedroom category. Any advice?

Don't pay any attention to whether categories have editor names at the bottom - it really has no meaning as far as whether anyone is actively editing a category.

So am I just up a creek for now? I don't know what too do. My site has tons of unique content and there are sites in my category that are offline. Is there any recourse I can take other than wait.

A common question, I have visions of tens of thousands of people sitting doing nothing with their lives until their site is listed in ODP.

You should should submit to ODP, wait one month - ask at RZ, and forget about it, spend your time making a good web site.

I review many thousnads of sites for ODP, and the sad thing is that even though I approve them and put them in the categories, many of them are ill designed web sites, badly thought out and not likely to get customers.

Or sites that have been waiting for review for a year, I look at them, find several pages saying 'coming soon', and reject the site.

Don't wait for anything, market, get links, improve your site.

That's what I am doing. I am not needing the ODP too make or break my site. The problem I have is that site nice is unique and nicely designed compared too other sites in my category and I think if someone saw my site it would be put in. I was just wondering if ther is anything else I can do than wait. The only reason I am concerned is that the ODP link is a nice one.

Man,

I think all of us just have to leave dmoz alone and do soemthing else after you have submitted your site. I know i do, so from now till 2007 i will check my site supertechstore.com again.....

In the mean time i just going to tell my boss dmoz usually takes from 6 months to 1 year to approve probably i got fired by then

Yeah, I am just trying to become the editor in my category. I guess the only thing I can do is try and help the backlog of sites. Right I am just sitting at home running my website so I might as well help out with my spare time.
