Smile Please help we are a great tool

Hello, all. We were listed in DMOZ a few years ago. Then all of a sudden we were gone a few years later. We contacted DMOZ chat a couple of years ago and were kicked out of the chat room when we asked why were dismissed and insisted to know what terms we could have possibly violated. At that point, we automatically assumed one of our competitors had become an editor within DMOZ and was trying to stifle competition. Our field can be and is very "underhanded". We are just trying to get our site listed in the appropriate category or any category that your editors feel we may fit into. It has been three years and we are going to try again to get listed. Please let us know why such a good site, listed on first page of Google, Yahoo!. etc., is not listed within DMOZ. Hopefully, things have changed and someone will be able to tell us how we can get our useful, differentiated, and unique site listed for your users. Thank you in advance all responses are appreciated.

I would not loose any sleep over this. A DMOZ link is not what it used to be. It is just a directory link.

DMOZ is an unaswerable power to itslelf. They never feel the need to justify or explain any actions they take. The editors can include or not include whoever they like. There is nothing you can do about it.

The whole directory has become a bit of a joke really. All these unpaid editors are just working for free for google to give people links. The only reason anyone even bothers to submit to DMOZ is for the link. No one uses it to search for anything other than their own site.

Your assumption about a competator becoming an editor is possibly true. I would imagine the main reason people become editors is to try to list their site or hurt their competators.

My advice is submit and forget DMOZ put your efforts into other ways to get links..

Thumbs up Thank you for your thoughtful comment

Thank you for your kind and prompt response. It is good to know that someone else feels the same way we do about it. Though I must admit I'd love to figure out a way to get into DMOZ as it would help our ranking. Have a great night and thanks again.

Post your url - I'll take a look... no guarantees on what occurs after that...

Sorry but that's privileged information.

You are best to think about getting others links as that really is all you get from DMOZ.

Very... very true. DMOZ is nothing but a link anymore. To give it more importance is to waste too much time on a link.
