ODP vs. Zeal

I think dmoz is very important since it's got Google. But Zeal is very important too, beacuse it servers it's directory to Altavista, MSN, Looksmart and more.
I am think that this can be the next popular direcotry like DMOZ becuse MSN is growing quicker.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Yeah Zeal is important but if you are a commercial company you have to go through Looksmart (which costs) so whilst this may be faster than ODP it costs.

For non-commercial sites - i have achieved some great listings, MSN in particular, by being in Zeal. - certainly which could not in their case have been replicated for free.

Hi, I agree with fraggle as lisiting in Zeal is good thing it's free for non-comercial sites... I believe that both sites are great communities and it could be useful to participate in them as you've got a chance to know many new interesting resources which can come in help to you...

Moreover, the editors are very efficient in adding Non-Commercial Sites to their database .

I'm not sure what the deal is at Zeal, but I have commercial site in there, and I've never asked for anything to be added.

What's the payoff or mitivation for someone to be an editor at zeal - I took the test, and they seem to be very fussy about the quality of decriptions. It seemed too nerve racking to work on adding sites, so I haven't got futher than barely passing the test.

well the commerial sites get added by looksmart editors to fill up the categories really - it doesnt make any odds to your overall listings elsewhere though as LS and Zeal run together!
