ODP Tips for Inclusion

I wanted to start this post as a general topic about what people thought are best tips and suggestions for getting included into The Open Directory Project.

What do you think is the most important factor for getting into the directory?
What do you like about ODP?
What is the fastest you have ever gotten in?
What is the longest wait you have had on getting included?

If you have spent anytime submitting your websites or your clients website to ODP, share your story, success, and suggestions.

I will begin with my own questions.
1. Most important factor is being accountable on your website. Post your contact information, how to reach your company, phone, email, address is best. Where are you doing business. Good content is prime! Be all original!

2. Not every website makes it in, only those that warrant inclusion.

3. Fastest - 2 days. Submitted to category. Emailed editor. Result showed up the next day.

4. Longest wait - 3 1/2 months. Lots of talking with editors and meta's on www.resource-zone.com, and lots of waiting.

1. What do you think is the most important factor for getting into the directory?

Preempted submissions - develop a site with DMOZ in mind. DMOZ is about research and topic diversity. If you have the same as what others have, you're not diverse enough. Provide a unique prespective and many and you will be rewarded.

3. What is the fastest you have ever gotten in?

within hours

4. What is the longest wait you have had on getting included?

I develop content that will be accepted - I don't much pay to "how long".

At best - 39 listings with 3 one click down from mainpage. I've noticed that 40 seems to be the lower limit of "your own category". Aiming to find out.
