No more PR10
Just noticed right now that DMOZ no longer have their PR10. Down to a PR9 - that's what happens when you slow down!
7 out of 10 times the DMOZ won't even let me searc, it moans of being overloaded. If only someone would let me take over - I'm sure there's so much more than could be done. Might even start to make $$$

If everyone were to lose their DMOZ backlink... that would only mean that they lost ONE backlink only. If you are having trouble competing... don't blame just one stupid backlink for your trouble... Get off your backside and start competing.

Sorry,
I honestly didn't know by being in DMOZ, you only get 1 backlink out of it. I thought Google , Yahoo, MSN also counts all the directories that use the DMOZ directory as well. I typed "link:www.mycompetitorssitedot.com" inside Yahoo, and noticed he had about 40-50 or so inlinks that all was due to the fact he was in DMOZ and that those sites used dmoz's listings. So in the end, does my competitor site only get 1 backlink out of that??? Last edited by LeopardAT1 : January 4th, 2007 at 09:18 PM. |

Having directory listings does not mean that they automatically come from those directories being DMOZ associates. They likely applied to many other free directory listings.
FYI, free directory listings are now worth almost nothing; especially true if they are not relevant. IMO, just a couple natural backlinks will likely out rank any and all directory listings your competitors may have. Get a backlink campaign going and stick to it. |
