Jayde directory instead of DMOZ are they equal?

Recently I was hip deep into looking for the best way into DMOZ. Everyone on this forum as well as every other forum I asked on informed me that I was wasting my time. So I inquired about the other directories of equal size or equal strength in SERPS as DMOZ. One reply told me to use JAYDE.com, so I did. It was very easy to get listed, but:
1 - Is it really as helpful as DMOZ?
2 - They offered me a link submission tool to use for free, is it waise to use this tool?

I have heard that it is never a good idea to use these things, because SE's think of you as spam then. Is that the case, even with Jayde.com?

Jayde is a pretty well respected directory and it cant hurt to submit to it, i would not say its as good as the DMOZ as the DMOZ is copied multiple times through the net giving you a large amount of one way links which will help your SERPS in google. It however may take forever to get listed!

I have never seen a search query returning the Jayde Listing but you can easuly find a result from Dmoz listing in major SERPs.
Also the sites that are listed in Dmoz Get listed in Google Directory too. So i think the Dmoz listing is much more beneficial than Jayde.

Thumbs down my first jayde.com experience

I just went to this jayde.com website as the first posts suggested it was a high quality directory. I clicked on the "Website Management" category link and guess what... This was not a real category,... just a sponsored link.

I would imagine that it could not hurt to be in the directory. Our site is indexed in google, msn, yahoo and hopefully DMOZ soon. I am sure it would not hurt to submit to Jayde.com.
