Thanks for that, but I mean it when I say I have no interest in being listed. Your looking into reasons why the site was refused may be of help to shedding light on the internal workings of Dmoz however, so it's worth you doing for that reason alone.

Nonetheless threads such as this get significant exposure and opinions form base on the historical discussion... and in all likelihood future members and lurkers will read this thread and can form educated opinions rather than just being a... well... a corruption parrot.

I wouldn't ask, nor want you to do this for me. The reputation of Dmoz has taken a serious bashing over the past few years and declined to the point where it's on the verge of implosion. Do it for Dmoz.

That's a risk, but good luck.

Rightly or wrongly; just because they don't agree with you - doesn't mean they are corrupt.

If you saw the original thread in the Dmoz submissions forum you'd realise the futility of the whole struggle. They didn't just 'not agree with me', they refused to see what was in front of them in black and white - the content they insisted wasn't there.

It serves little to keep harping on a dead horse.

I despise these style of threads - for the most part they serve no one... no amount of insight, research, evidence or proof changes a simple truth...

The corruption camp was right! ... Rand himself proves that...

It's interesting to note that "corruption" is define as: "lack of integrity or honesty (especially susceptibility to bribery); use of a position of trust for dishonest gain" wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

Rand seems to fit that bill to a "T" but he isn't there anymore so the system does work to filter out the bad seeds and the bruised flesh.

In any case this thread isn't about that - it's about "is there a trick" and the general answer is no... in most cases "non-listing means" "not reviewed" - if your website is reviewed and the suggestion is deleted, and it is determined by a senior editor that it was listable... the listing is re-added with an editor's note of caution (call this "a suggestion or tip to re-evaluate your actions"... failure to adhere to repeated cautions most often results in loss of privileges...

Honestly, many times my own deletions have been re-added with a note... and generally there is nothing wrong with either action... as humans we all see the world "differently" and seniority tends to be the overpowering force in many of these cases. (that's no different than the rest of the private business world).

As for the side topic - JakeCop was good enough to post a url for a domain that he suggests is a vaild case of editor abuse because the editor would not list the domain... that is a valid possibilty (while I personally believe it isn't - I equally have no evidence to show at this time that that conclusion is false... which is why I plan to spend time - investigating...

...............

And unfortunately, side-development (the greatest reason you don't see this stuff publicly IMHO) ... already I have had a PM and 2 emails for me to investigate other listing issues... sorry that will not occur.

I, like anyone else, enjoy my spare time and am not an employee of ODP, I am a volunteer... as such I get to choose the time and the "amount of time" I spend assisting ODP... thus my own editor note:

"please do not request".

I think the next bit of info from you alone made this thread worthwhile...

That little bit of info is an eye opener, I'm sure we're all grateful to know that.

Seems like a very interesting drink! Nice slogan as well. Too bad we don't have that here in our country ;)
