Did you make the effort to find out the exact category that they should be submitted to ? Could be a reason of rejection.

I submitted to the appropriate categories. To the same ones as my competitors who were already listed...

To be honest, I'm not going to worry too much as I know a link from DMOZ isn't as big a deal as before. Still a pain in arse though.

SHHHHHH BIG SECRET!!!!!

WELL DMOZ, come up with a better system if you are tired of fielding all of the questions on the forum...

The questions should be telling you something..... Like a BIG BLUE PAWPRINT.... THEY ARE A CLUE!!!!!!

Sorry, I have to go take my meds.....

You are obviously unhappy with the service provided by DMOZ. Can I suggest you ask for a refund.....hang on a minute...you aren't paying DMOZ anything and they aren't providing you with a service!!! .... maybe your medication is a good option.

Did you read the guidelines that you agreed to when you submitted? Specifically the one about related sites? They all look related to me.

I came here to ask exactly the same question as the OP

Seems like the whole system is flawed.
I mean think about it; why would you become a DMOZ editor? The only reason i can think of is so that you can reject your competitors from the directory.
Once one of your competitors has grabbed that editor spot in your category i don't see any way that you'd get in?

I have submitted quite a few (legitimate business) sites to the DMOZ, none have gotten in.
For example:
- A Webdesign site
- A Barter system site
- A soccer apparel site

TBH I don't think dmoz really NEEDS more entries.
Maybe just the odd gem.

In fact it could probably do with some pruning

That just shows how little you know about DMOZ.

dmoz is a voluntary work, its human edited, humans judge and lie and mislead.
but not all are like that, so lets know judge the whole dmoz system over few dodgy editors.

i think dmoz is a great system, doesnt matter how good or bad it is its still free so cant say much.

BUT.... (yes theres a but)
one thing that gets to me is why does google use dmoz, i only wantd to get in dmoz coz i want to be in google dir.
its unreliable and out of date and some,(yes some)sometimes unfair.
much as i appreciate wat dmoz as an organisation and editors do for free, but get to me that google use data from them
i would rather pay to be in google directly, if i get reject atleast i will know, and can move on.

i was added on dmoz after so damn long and removed after two day, i never submited agian.....

If you are talking about the site in your profile, then you are listed in DMOZ.

Please don't judge other people based on the way you yourself would act. Such statements always tell me more about the person writing it than about what he is writing about.

You might have noticed that Google did not update their copy of the directory after february 2006.
