How long did it take you to get in?

As the topic says, how long did it take you guys to get into ODP, and get listed? I got my old site in, but it was a while ago. I recently submitted my other site and am wondering how long it took everyone else?

It totally depends on how many new submissions the category gets, how many spam submissions it gets (some cats get hundreds), whether or not the cat has an active editor. I have been known to add sites within minutes to my cat (not lately, been busy) and some submissions take months. After about a month, if your site is not listed, you can ask about its status at http://www.resource-zone.com/

Then remember it will take another while to get listed on ODP affiliate sites, as they produce a RDF dump once every month or so (although it's more like once every 6 months these days).

To my amazement I just got listed in ODP 3 days after my request. The category didn't appear to have an editor.

Normally it would say "this category needs an editor" the one I submitted to said "Volunteer to edit this category"

I figured I would never get in, since every category I would fit into needed an editor.

Dmoz editor's can do what they call "Greenbust" which means that other editors can go into cats and go through the unreviewed files and approve, disapprove or leave unreviewed..... Since DMOZ has finally figured out how to fix the RDF problem its been having for the last 6 months - many of the editors are excited again and putting in a little overtime cleaning things up..... Good time to submit.....

Yea, I dont see why they wouldn't.......

Dmoz is updating often too......

Just keep checking on the catagory that you submitted to.... as they wont be searchable till the next dump after they are added......

Did the cats have there own editors?

Or will you be waiting for a greenbust?

Another thing Darin....... If a dmoz editor likes your site but thinks it was submitted to the wrong catagory.... It can approve your site and move it to an appropriate catagory..... but it will be moved and then must be approved by that catagory editor... So - if you submitted darinward.com to - web marketing/design - they could approve it but move it to say - personal pages or something?? so it could be there and you just not know where it is until the dump.......

SeoChat went in a category with an editor, but my personal site seems to have no editor for its category.

I guess that wouldn't be too bad, but that's a hell of a lot of sites, I'd have to go through my archive to figure out all of them

I think applying to be an editor at the ODP would be a lot like being audited.

I'm not sure what it is more....

A priviledge or just another time consuming responsibility...
