1. Go to the ONE best category and click on "suggest click"
2. Write a perfect guideline compliant title and description. 3. Forget about it; move on; there is nothing more you can do. It will get reviewed eventually when a volunteer editor takes an interest in the category. If you have already submitted, don't submit again as it will just overwrite the previous one with the new date and put you further back. |

It is a chance of luck, you must have an interesting title, description, and a site.

honestly from what I've seen on 5-6 webmaster forums, you got like a 5 % chance out of 100. Also not sure, but it seems like what category your submitting to may play a role. I submitted my clients site to a local local category and was placed only 2-3 weeks afterwards....which is pretty fast compared to most other ones.
Remember, most sites added are by editors finding sites they like on their own. Its very hard now to "suggest" a site. |

I think it depends a lot of the quality of the site.
Far now i had the pleasant surprise to see a lot of the sites I take care of indexed by DMOZ even without submitting to it - so if you're really good you'll be picked up eventually even without submitting. Again most of the sites I submit to the proper category and following the guidelines were approved if they had enough quality, original content and they respected all DMOZ rules. I admit that there might be some cases when a category is very busy or when it is a ghost category (without any active editor or meta-editor), but I think this cases are isolated and they never hit any of my quality now - far now all quality sites I submitted to DMOZ were accepted in a reasonable period of time (from a few days to maximum 6 months). |

Luck of the Draw
It seems from all the posts that I have read that really there is no way to know how quickly someone will be listed. I have submitted my site over 1.5 years ago and I am certain it is the right category and it is a very high quality site and yet it has not been posted. I don't know if no one is taking care of that section of the directory. Good luck to all!

It is unpredictable as DMOZ is not in the business of providing the listing service to webmasters. DMOZ adds around 2000 sites a week, making it the fastest growing directory in the web. About half those sites that do get listed were never listed in the first place. Most sites that do get submitted are not listabe.
Some editors do not even look at the pool of submitted sites when looking for new sites to add. |
