Finally in DMOZ

Initially I had submitted last feb of 06 submitting once. Long story short, this week, I had submitted a few times and even opted into an editor position (knowing the industry) 5 days ago. Today, finally I was entered into DMOZ and after a year and 4 months at 18:16:02 by a DMOZ/editor/ I was accepted !! and im sure it was because it was because of my persistence going into a rarely submitted category. Im not sure if will help you, but it did for me this time. Im hoping for some sort of progress for the site.

Given that several 1000 sites get listed every few weeks at DMOZ, why start a thread announcing your site is finally listed?

Congrats!

I have not been so successful. I have re-submitted at least 4 times over a 30 month span with no success.

so who does it if there is no category editor?

It goes on a massive pile with 1000's of other links and the editors concentrate on their own workload first, thats why it takes so long.

Any editor in a higher category can and do edit in categories with unamed editors. There are greater than 200 editalls that can and do edit in any category.

Where are you getting your information from or are you just making it up?

Question

So by this you're saying you actually went on to work as an editor for that category you were seeking? Or did I mis-read that?

still no luck

I have submitted my site 3 times - the first time in August 06 - still not listed. Recently I submitted an application to be an editor for the category I want my site listed - application rejected with no specific reason. My site has plenty of original content which I write myself, is unique, and fits into an applicable DMOZ category.

My guess is that a competitor is an editor and is freezing out the competition.

Provide the evidence and they will be removed as an editor.

DMOZ is very confusing. Most troubled thing is its been used by search engines like Google and such. There been so many complains, heart breaks with DMOZ.

The only people who are complaining about DMOZ are webmasters who want to use DMOZ to get a link to their site to allegedly improve their rankings. No users of DMOZ are complaining.
