Dmoz V Yahoo Directory

Hi all

I would like to know if it worth paying for Yahoo since I can never get my website on dmoz.

And will this help or do I need to keep trying Dmoz submissions! I just wish they gave you a reason for not accepting our site is genuine and helpful.

Regards

Gary Thomas Hardacre

Its all about opportunity cost and ROI. It is not either or. personally I pay for yahoo directory because $300 is not a significant marketing expense for my business. I feel it is an authority site link which transfers trust and relevance. Others disagree...

dont resubmiy

Hi
If you keep resubmitting to dmoz you will not be accepted it is a single submition site also i think you also go back to the end of the queue every time you resubmit as for yahoo i use it however since the google paid link rule i wonder about the relevance.

If you have submitted more than once, then YOU are the reason. Each time you resubmit, you just overwrite the previosu submission with the new date and move your site down.

i hate dmoz

I think its a crap shoot getting listed in the odp. many of the categories aparently do not have a reliable editor to update the listings. besides that, if an editor is having a bad day, i do not see what prevents them from taking it out on your perfectly acceptable site. After all, there is no incentive for them to accept your site anyway, its not like they get paid.

I see stuff like seo-zone.com listed in the odp all the time. This is a made for adsense site, yet it got listed.

I will stick with the yahoo directory. at least you can pay for a timely listing. also, if your site is business related, submit it to the business.com directory. I have noticed that google really likes sites listed in this directory.

DMOZ is effective but you may get listed in just 2 weeks span or may have to wait months after months to get listed in Dmoz.org.Its really very uncertain.

What I suggest is....I think you can do one thing, submit to yahoo directory first by paying $200 and then submit your site to DMOZ informing them that your site is listed on Yahoo. This method may faster process.

You may also sign up with DMOZ as editor and email the editor-in-charge to faster the submission process. This is another good idea I feel
