DMOZ - Question Regards Link
I am very fortunate to be listed in dmoz, but just puzzled.
Using seochat tools, and some others: www.mysite.com i dont show mysite.com and i do show I still dont show a link in google analytics, from dmoz and using a different tool, i show one link but with PR0. when i search in DMOZ directly, same thing.....with www no show but remove the www and i show. I am also in BOTW and show one link, but only PR0 I know you arent supposed to get hung up on page rank, but i would have expected more. My main concern is that dmoz isnt showing in google, even though i have been in dmoz for 3 weeks. Is this normal? Many thanks. |

Thanks chp.
Its interesting when building links to see how different tools give different responses and info. They dont all match but i would have thought Google Analytics would be correct. I just actually found my robots.txt file was stopping numerous pages from being indexed, thats now been changed but i thought this may also be a problem. My minds at ease now, thanks. This seo stuff is a real puzzle for a newbie, hope i pick it up soon. Back to directory submissions........ |

Do you mean Google Webmaster Tools? GA doesn't show your backlinks, only referring sites that have generated traffic. Also GWT doesn't show all your backlinks that Google is aware of. It certainly shows more than the link: command does, but it's still not 100%. |

I should probably stop checking....I suppose you have all been there, started seo and checked every few hours to see what link has turned up, hoping for a real good one. (lol)
Im just so keen to start showing in google searches, but at the moment i arent. I will keep building links and hopefully sometime soon i will show in the searches. I have about 440 now so i should show soon, surely? BOTW, DMOZ and 3 x PR5's, the rest are various 0, 1 or 2. Actually, can you tell me how i can get an average of 10 organic searches showing up each day, yet i cant find myself in google results? How does this happen? People find me but i dont show in results? This is according to G An...yesterday for example I had 89 ppc views and 17 organic. It shows the keywords, but when i type them in, i cant find myself. Hope this isnt a dumb question....Ive been asking a few dumb ones, but this is what the board is for i suppose....to learn from. Thanks for your time. |

Different Google data centers show different results sometimes, especially if your site (or the page you are looking for) is new. Unfortunately, patience is a virtue when it comes to SEO. For a link to start passing any link juice of value, it needs to age. Generally ~3 months to pass ~50% value, and up to 12 months to pass 100%. It can be less than this for links from and to aged and trusted sites. |

Damn....could be a long wait in that case as i have only been operational for 5 weeks.
Patience may be a virtue......but its also an impossibility. Thanks again. |

Different datacenters is one reason for not seeing your own site in the serps and another one - which is becoming more common - is location. Google seems to be increasing it's efforts to differentiate between searches from different locations, look in Google webmaster tools and you'll see they are now asking webmasters to define a location for sites with a specific geographical customer base. I have a site which Google says ranks very highly for THE most competitive word. When I search for it I don't see it at all but I know it does in the US. If you are targetting highly competitive terms 400+ links may be woefully inadequate, but for "average terms" you should start seeing some results fairly quickly - assuming your link anchors tie in with the the serps you are competing for and your on-site optimisation / content and site navigation are reasonably good.
