DMOZ Listing not in Google Directory (Over a year)

We've been in dmoz for well over one year, but are no where to be found in google directory. Is there a process for bringing this to someone's attention or are we just tosl?

Google preserves the "right" to scrape the dmoz database but tweak the results to its own liking.

I must say that dmoz/Gdir differences are quite rare, so I wonder what you did to pi** Google off - causing it not to list you...

We haven't done anything to piss google off - no really

We've long suspected our main competitor IS a dmoz editor of THE category OR he is close friends with the person.

Is there any recourse for this?

Go for a (free?) Yahoo Dir listing instead?

We are listed in Yahoo and MSN, just not google directory - it's one of the very few small differences between number 2/3 and 6/7

I just didn't know if anyone had ever reported this and gotten it "corrected". It's terrible you have to be so paranoid about being "banned from google" for asking a legitimate question...

Have you tried contacting Google (help@google.com or better yet: one of their support forms) ?

No I hadn't I wasn't sure if one was better then another.

Another odd thing about this - is our link in dmoz which really IS there does not show up in our backlinks either - it's all very odd actually.

Do you have a recommended method of contacting google?

Even weirder, sites that use dmoz for their own directory have us listed in our catagory. We seem to be only missing on Google.

Found the answer (in case you are curious):

Q: When is Google Directory updated next?

A: From Craig Payne (cbpa...@gmail.com):

Google only updated the Directory 8 times in 2002 and 2 times in 2003
(the last being early November) - so the next one is anyones guess.

This being posted today in google groups....

The google directory will delist Zero PageRank websites from it's own directory. Therefore the website remains in dmoz but not in google directory.

Hmmm, I think the (earlier) backlink from dmoz would be enough to bump up a page's PageRank to at least PR0.5 But yeah, I can imagine them delisting banned websites....

I sometimes check the "PR update calendar" on seocompany.ca to see if the Google Dir has updated...

I'm not at liberty to disclose that information - sorry. However I can tell you that upon checking what were supposed to be "Live Feed" dmoz clones, we are in fact listed however we remain not listed in the google directory.

What has that got to do with the Google directory listing?

We could never get listed in the "right" catagory even though we have the largest and most comprehehsive site, with the most back links - we fall under "Authority site"

- there are 1000's of PR0 sites in the Google Directory

We are currently page rank 6

That means Google have manually removed it.

Any thoughts as to why Google may have removed it? We still place well in the SERPS are not black hat and have accurate and timely information on our site. We've not been banned from google either and still have page rank.

We're not in THE catagory - we're listed where we are located in the regional listings...

Should I email them and ask?
