No such thing. Editors dance 24/7 adding sites. Their activity drifts into the public view depending on the server load, usually within a few days.

The only thing that's close is the search, which usually updates once a week, except it's been broken for a couple of weeks. It dones't get update when a site gets added but as a separate activity.

And the export to RDF files, which does not affect ODP itself, but creates a snapshot copy for other sites to use, usually occurs once a week.

Wow, more than 1000 a day? that's quite a bit. how come it takes so long for some people? One of the editors wrote back saying site is in editorial review. May take from 1 week to 2 years?

Probably becasue there are over 1 million in the unreviewed suggestion pool. A lot of these are likely to be in wrong category or crapy spam, creating uneccessary work for editors. ... work editors have to do without actually adding any sites.

In my category, no site waits more than 12 hours (I check 2x a day) for rejection or listing (most rejected). Other categories can take a year or so - all depends on where a editor chooses to work with their free time.

Any time i've ever submitted to Dmoz, i've made it in within 2 - 3 weeks.

Don't bother submitting unless you have a half decent site which is somewhat unique to dmoz.

Dmoz doesn't list everything, only good stuff... You generally don't get in because your site is ****.

dmoz should make a timetable

dmoz should make a time table so that it will helpfull to webmasters to know whats happening at dmoz end.

like google dance webmasters must know about dmoz dance

dmoz should publish a list regular basis that which new sites updated in this month/week/day

so that peoples whould know what happening in dmoz end.

so that we can start counting also that dmoz will be leader or not.

today dmoz is leader but it is not necessory that dmoz will be leader in future also.

seorat or cbp, do you have an idea of which categories are the ones that have the highest amount of websites pending for review?

That's an interesting question, but I don't know if there is any easy way of getting the full answer [or if I'm allowed to tell you]

But I can't see any way of finding the single category with the biggest backlog.

World is high, but that's because it's harder to fill all the positions for non-English speakers.

I thought for sure it would be Shopping would be high, but evidently not, thats high Spam, but not the biggest backlog.

What I do see surprises me, as there are backlogs in areas that I don't expect, but I'm playing safe and not telling you where they are. I don't want to get my hand slapped.

2 -3 weeks is fast. It must not be a commercial or shopping site - or you got lucky. Most people wait a really long time.

Shopping Directories have a ton waiting. They say dont hold your breath.

I have a site listed in two categories; rather quickly actually. But, the focus of the site has changed since listed in DMOZ. I have been attempting to get it listed in a new category, but there is no editor in that category. With no editor in the category... I am learning the real meaning of patience. But that is OK. It really doesn't affect anything. I will check back on the forum in another month or two.

To accurately judge the backlog is not easy. If you look at my cat more than 50% is sites that still do not meet the standards or SPAM. I have been through most of them though but they are still in my backlog as I am expecting the sites to improved shortly.
