301 redirect from site listed in dmoz

We have a smaller older (related) site that does not get much traffic but it is listed in dmoz. If we did a 301 from that domain to one of our current active domains that is not listed in dmoz would the new domain get the benefit of the 301 from the site listed?

What benefit do you expect?. Do you expect an increase in ranking., Currently you have said that your dmoz listed domain does not get much traffic, that means you dont have good rankings?. If so, Why do you risk in shifting to a new domain which is not listed in dmoz. Even though a dmoz listing is not required to rank well now-a-days, why do you want to lose a domain that is already listed in dmoz?.

Well the other domain is not really new it already ranks well and gets very good traffic but we have been trying to get it into dmoz for almost 2 years now and still nothing.

And it may be the case that being listed in dmoz may not help you out as much as once thought but we are always looking for anything to give our main site that extra push.

So if sacrificing one domain alread listed in dmoz that maybe pulls in about 2 or 3 conversions a week to push our main site to an extra 5 or 6 conversions a week its worth it.

Both sites are not likely to be listed, so it is possible that reviewers would view the 'new' one as a related site and not want to list it. If you added a redirect indicating the old v. new URL then I would suspect that the old url would be removed from the directory and a replaced by the new one. Whether or not the new one would remain listed or be moved to the waiting queue, would depend depend and who knows how long it would be before an editor found it.

It would probably be faster to go to the category it was listed in and select the "update" link though. Most editors will tell you that 'updates' will take priority with them and if the content is the same and is still listable it may just get a URL change and remain intact.
