Video Ranking high in Google for Keywords

    Hi

I am a newbie to the forum so it was nice to come across it!

I run a few of my own websites as a hobby but was offered a promotional video that would rank high in Google for keywords and places.

e.g Your video will rank on the first page of Google for 100's of keywords and literally all locations so:

    Gas Repair Engineer in Petersfield.

I liked the idea but the thought of going ahead without understanding whether the method was black hat or not is the stumbling block for me.

That aside, I wondered how this might be done and if anyone had any ideas as funnily enough, I was just about to do a few 'How to videos!"

Hopefully I'm in the right place on the forum but either way, nice forum.

From what it sounds, it looks like a spammy offer to me. No reputable marketing company would word their proposal that way

That being said, creating videos is an effective marketing tactic because Youtube videos are easy to rank for not too competitive terms. But there should be a strategy behind it.

    - What these videos be about?
    - How would they work sending traffic and exposure to your site?

I wouldn't trust that specific company though...
Everything will be ok in the end

If it's not ok, it's not the end

it add to anns point, try to look at the search engine results page for what keywords that you're targeting. do you see any videos within the first page? I think if you create a video , try to have an informational focus and try to embed it in an existing page, for example on a resources area of your site...that will be your best bet to get it to appear...its going to be a struggle to rank a purely promotional video in organic search, from my point of view.

Thanks for the replies, they make perfect sense and it's also nice to be able to bounce things off other people.

I am thinking of putting together some help video's and some product videos on different websites that I run but in both cases I will place them on an information page rather than a stand alone video; this should help enhance the explanation and written support rather than replace it.

I may do a couple of purely promotion stand alone videos and just see what happens to them and how Google reacts to them as regards seo.

    Thanks again.
