Ranking for part of a keyword phrase

    Hi everyone

I'm new to SEO to apologies if this is a silly question!

If the following example keyword "big red shoes" is relevant to a page so I name the page this, does this mean in theory - ignoring competition levels etc - if I focused on the keyword phrase "big red shoes" I could rank for both "big red shoes" as well as "red shoes", as red shoes in contained within the phrase?

    Thank you all!

Correct, all words appearing on a page will be considered for ranking not just your chosen keywords.
Later on the page you could mention women and therefore could rank for women shoes.

That is of course ignoring all competition.
Some words though carry more weight, words contained in the page title for example.

Thank you! That's helpful. How does pluralisation affect this? E.g. if we had Big red shoe, could this phrase in theory also rank for red shoes?

Google fully understand plural words and rank them differently depending on query.
So shoe and shoes will be ranked differently.
