    Angry no-follow?

    Hey guys,

I am building links to our websites, I've seen our competitors have a lot of follow links from crappy sites but they rank 1-2 on competitive keywords.

I've just joined this company and previously they got a lot of links but most of them are no-follow hence no value and they rank nowhere.

I read somewhere that google is giving value to no-follow links now too? or is it that person was day dreaming who wrote the article lol.

So crappy links from crappy spamy sites still work i guess?

Despite the (apparent) lack of "juice", no-follow links are still useful.

Ultimately the whole point of link building is to drive traffic to your site so a well placed no-follow on a good site is worth way more than some random directory link.

As for spammy links working it's really difficult to say, I wouldn't take the risk personally but similarly to you I often find well ranking competitors with thousands of them.

The number of backlinks is just but one of the so many factors for ranking. The website may have a better on page SEO and content. You should also consider the domain age for that matter.
