you can use SSL certificate anytime you want to add https in your website(in live and running website also) ...just login to your domain account, purchase an SSL certificate and activate it on your desired domain...after successful activation you can visit your website with "https"..

There is no need to purchase a SSL certificate as drvshrm suggested.
Simple add your site to cloudflare, Alter the named servers as per their instructions and your good to go. Never use direct urls within your site so just use relative then that way all links and resources will work if on http or https.
    so for example
    Dont use http://mydomain.com/mypage
    Use /mypage

Within cloudflare you have a couple of options you should do
    under Cryto scroll to
Always us https, turn this on.
under Automatic https Rewrites turn this on.

Once setup you will be serving a lot of your content from cloudflare cache servers so it can make a huge difference in increasing the speed of your site. So therefore its a win win and all for free.

    1. Purchase an SSL Certificate
    2. Configure hosting with SSL Certificate
    3. Change all website links to HTTPS
    4. Setup 301 redirects from HTTP to HTTPS or consider HSTS

Migrating your site to HTTPS is a bit of a task, but luckily there are a lot of resources out there to help.
And as for me,it will be better to update your design after converting!

    Hi Afzaal

    In addition to Chedders advice.

Go to SSL for Free, just search it on Google. they will give you a Free SSL to use. You just have to update it every 90 days. install it. Now you have ssl encrypted connection between you and CloudFlare as well.
If you have never failed in your life, you have never achieved anything Noteworthy !

When I started my website I didn't use SSL and it was hacked twice. My hosting provider was not apt. Later I changed my hosting as well as added SSL. Since then I haven't been facing any kind of issues.

Moving to SSL does not prevent your site from being hacked I am afraid. Yes it offers low level security to prevent traffic sniffers etc but it wont give you 100% secure protection .
