Main things search engine look for in a website (my opinion)

This is my take so far on what search engines like Google look for in a website to rank them in a better position.

    #1 Relevant contents

Relevant content can also be said that the content makes sense to what the website is all about. If the website is about cars and there are contents related to boats, then web crawlers will consider the content as irrelevant.

#2 Write contents for your readers, not for search engines

When creating contents, always keep in mind that the content you are creating is what’s good for your readers and not search engine.

#3 Constantly update your website with contents

Search engines love websites with fresh contents. Constantly updating your site with relevant and new contents will signal search engine’s web crawlers and therefore it stops by your site more often.

But then again, if you constantly update your website with fresh content, make sure it is relevant and quality.

    #4 Link your website well

Search engine also loves a website that is well-linked. A well-linked website can be compared with road signs. For example, if you are on a highway to London and the exit states Exit Here instead of London, then it’s not really a well planned road signage.

Same goes to your website. If your website is about travelling and you want to link one of your page to another page about travelling in Maldives, the best way to link it is like this “Guide to travel in Maldives” instead of Click Here.

#5 Reproducing your entire blog post on a (well-established) forum (along with the exact same spelling and grammatical errors) will not help your blog to rank!
