    keyword planner results

    hi all,

    apologies if this is a noob's question, but here goes;

I work at a university and I'm interested in what prospective students use as their search terms. Specifically I'd like to know if the search for 'psychology degree', 'psychology course', 'psychology bsc' and other variants where I have a name of a subject area and then the word 'degree', 'course' 'bsc', 'ba' etc.

I've used the 'keyword multiplication tool' to generate many , many variants and have got the monthy search volumes back from that.

Is what I see reliable? I mean if it says that there are (where the number is the monthly exact searches)

    Psychology degree 9900
    Psychology course 1600
    ba Psychology 1600
    bsc Psychology 1300

am I justified in saying that the thing I should probably optimise on is 'psychology degree', with a sprinkling of the word 'course' in the page?

Thanks in advance for any responses

    Sam

    Reliable? NO!

Impressions of searches are vague references that can be both positively & negatively impacted by a variety of external influences that have nothing to do with searchers clicking on listed results.

Many years ago (July 2006) AOL accidentally release search data for 600,000+ users.

When that was tabulated 57% of "factual searchers" never clicked on anything. So that was around 360,000 users did absolutely nothing and that is including in your monthy search volumes at +/- something around 57%.

The rest of the tabular results when like

42.3% clicked on #1 results position
11.8% clicked on #2 results position
8% clicked on #3 results position
6% clicked on #4 results position
4% clicked on #5 results position
about 3% clicked on #6 results position
about 3% clicked on #7 results position
about 3% clicked on #8 results position
about 3% clicked on #9 results position
about 3% clicked on #10 results position

dropping to 1% or below on page two
These were actual clicks but you don't get that data from public accessible tools.
