Question Google does not show Title of post as answer.

I recently made a post on my blog. If I search for in on the web "how to use systemd to run mattermost".
Then Google shows "the answer", but the title is actually the Title of my webpage rather then the title of my post.

But If I search for an older post, it works like it should.

The website I'm talking about is: http://zwarag.com

Any Idea why that might happen?

    Hey there, and welcome!

This may have something to do with your page or meta titles. Google looks at these things, but uses them more as guidelines than directives. So it could ignore what you put there altogether if it believes that it can come up with a more descriptive title itself. "Descriptive" being defined by Google.

There may be some issue on the page that prevents Google from seeing what title you want the page to have, too. I'd take a look here: https://support.google.com/webmaster...er/35624?hl=en

    Hope that helps!

    Hi

I just had glance at your website and the post How to use systemd to run the mattermost chat platform. is not even cached in google it is showing 404 Error. So I believe google consider your home page is relevant for that search terms. I suggest to build backlinks for your inner pages once you post and always check the google cached date for the post. Once it cached your problem will be solved I think so.

Thanks for your answer. It's really helping me to understand whats happening.

From my analysis, it seems like my website gives Google hard times to understand for what it's there.
So the next best thing it finds is the article.

I think I will put a description meta tag into my main body. So maybe Google will understand the purpose of the website and use that description meta as the snippet.

That could be possible - it's worth looking at your code to make sure it's easy for Google to crawl.

I'm not sure if that's a good idea though. I'd give Google's guidelines a read to make sure that your meta descriptions are in the right place and written well. Again - even if you get everything right, it's still possible for Google to say "We disagree with this meta description - we think the page is about something else," and use their own description.
