Www Redirection not indexing
We setup a proper 301 redirect through .htaccess over two weeks ago, but MSN is still showing domain.com instead of www.domain.com in its results. The redirect works because if I type in domain.com it does redirect. MSN indexes some of our www pages as well, but it is most frustrating and surely not helpful to our rankings to have www and non-www listings. So will this change? Will they index properly at some point, but we just have to wait longer? As far as I know they don't have anything like "preferred domain" as Google Sitemaps offers. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance. Our URL is http://www.vancouverisland.travel

Don't worry about it (crawl timing is needed) "without a 301" you lose very little so just forget about it... it will happen. |

Thanks for the reply. I understand it will take crawl time, but we are looking at just over a month now and MSN still doesn't have it right. I know we've been crawled by them frequently since I setup the re-direct. We have two sites in the top 10 for a few key search terms, but don't get credit as one site (with an indented link for the second page) because MSN still hasn't figured out our home page is re-directed. If there is anything else I could or should be doing please let me know. Otherwise, I will patiently wait (and curse) Live Search for its behaviour. |
