What am I doing wrong?

Hello everybody,

yet another question from a beginner. Msn is spidering me quite a lot, some of my pages are indexed, others not. However, my most imortant ones are, except, when you check for their keywords they are nowhere to be found.
my differential amplifier page :http://jefpatat.freefronthost.com/audio/input%20stage/differential%20amplifier.htm shows up first in yahoo, didn't even try to optimalise, but in msn nowhere found although it's indexed.
same with this page : http://jefpatat.freefronthost.com/audio/input%20stage/constant%20current%20source.htm

what am I doing wrong? or should I give it more time, don't see why, because they are in it.

kind regards, Jef

I do think that msn does care about in bound links, and I can't see that you have that many...try getting some more links and that may help a bit, also how far down are you looking in msn and how competitive is the kw?

I think beta does put some considerable weight on BLs. Page 1 for our main keyphrase shows the usual monsters with millions of BLs and no onpage optimization

When I last checked it was down enough to not be in the first 1000 results. The keywords aren't competitive at all. The 5th result shown has only 3 backlinks, I have 4 and much more relevant contents.
the keywords are : differential amplifier, with or without quotes, doesn't matter. The page is
http://jefpatat.freefronthost.com/audio/input%20stage/differential%20amplifier.htm
I have this same problem on other pages as well.

regards, Jef

Jef, I see that you do have some backlinks to your index page, but to be effective in msn i think that you need inbound backlinks to whichever pages you want to show up in msn. get more links to your amplifier page if thats the one you want to focus on...put some on your blog to start out as that gets spidered quickly im sure. focus on the bls, it might take some time, and then you can start working on some on page stuff if need be. when using into to diy/audio I see that your ranking at #16 in msn, so msn sees you, but I do have the problem that in msn results only my index page shows up. I have started to focus on more links to my other pages and I think it will take a while to see them come up in the rankings.

I don't get it. I have more backlinks than the site in position number five! Still I'm not in the top 1000! I think I have enough backlinks to that page, is there some kind of sandbox theorie for msn as well?

I have never witnessed a sandbox in MSN like Google. I have instead found that with enough links you can rank for a word with a week or two. It is only recently that I have paid more attention to this because the percentage of my traffic from Google has been dropping and MSN and Yahoo has been rising.

My old strategy was optimize for Google and MSN and Yahoo will take care of thereselves. Everyone has always said "on site" for MSN and "off site" for Google but this doesn't mean IBL's aren't a huge part of ranking in MSN. I have shared keywords with non related events and seen sites rank extremely quickly purely on the power of a HUGE influx of inbound links. Its caused me to monitor MSN closer and change my thinking a bit on how they display their SERPs.

its not just about comparing to one of the sites that ranks high. I can understand if you dont agree with my tacitcs, but Im just trying to let you know what I have done, and my rank in 3-4 kws in msn is #1-#6, with 52k, 618k and 512K sites in competition. But that's just for my index page, which recieves 95% of my ibls, and there really isnt much else difference that I see in my pages that would give my other pages no satisfaction other than that? In msn it doesnt look like they see that many of your bl's to that specific page from my research of your site, just to the root? the other thing, is with such a large amount of text on that page, its hard to get your kw density high, and msn does favor on-page as well as links I think
