hi there,

How old is your site? Do you have other results on SE's big 3? for how long you handle the top position?

It used to be that some engines, unlike google, would give new sites a boost at first, then settle as time goes by. I've noticed this as recently as last year (haven't put up a site in awhile).

I don't know how things work currently this way but what you just described was common for my new sites on SE's like yahoo and msn.

Micorsoft and Yahoo just merged and as you might know Microsoft owns MSN.

Thus the close rank on both MSN and Yahoo.

How many visitors where you getting from this #1 on MSN? I suggest giving it sometime. Did they do an backlink update or an algo change, could just be temp.

Same problem

I was ranked for months as #1 jupiter real estate and now on page 7. No changes to site. Yet I'm still #1 for Jupiter Oceanfront condos. I'm lost.

1. MSN is nuts! There a few sites that stick hard but almost everyone else experiences the same. #1 for nothing.... think you've got it going.... off to oblivion.
2. MSN brings a fraction of the traffic as Google. Yes, a trickle is good, but don't stress what won't matter when you finally get the sand out of your shorts.
3. MSN is still working out the bugs so be patient before making any changes that might come back to haunt you when it may matter. If it's a quality site, it will come back as they get things sorted or at least ironed out so you know exactly what you should be working on.

click down to the page you are on...

1. grab a huge bottle of white glue,

2. remove spout cap,

3. point at monitor,

4. squirt a generous supply,

5. let set,

6. no more problem.

Microsoft and Yahoo merged? Could you point me to some info about this! Definitely news to me and it's weird because I can't find anything on the Internet about this 'merger'.

I don't see MSN buying Yahoo out anytime soon, although it would make sense on MSN's part because if you can't beat them, join them.

Haha.. the merger he is referring to is probably the messenger thing - being able to chat to MSN contacts from Yahoo and vice-versa. Some kiddies here .. hmmm...

Actually isn't that merely MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger?

Likely the first bite by MSN on the backside of Yahoo.
