About a month ago, my website www.tshirtcrib.com was number 3 when searching for offensive t-shirts and offensive tshirts. Now it is 15 for offensive tshirts, and not even on the chart when searching for offensive t-shirts. I have tried everything I can think of to optimize it, from meta-tags, to additional links, to on page content, but nothing seems to improve my rank. Unfortunately I am deployed in Iraq, and I don't have the means to call or find out what is wrong, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks =)

id love to help a soldier out with some good advice, but i am as baffeled as you. I WAS #1 in MSN and am now 10+. I am still #1 in Yahoo and #2 in Google.
The only thing I can figure is MSN is penalizing me for overoptimization, something they were previously known for awarding. |

There were some changes in MSN algo - wait for the dust to settle and after that see what the real situation is.

MSN algo fluctuates badly
Once I was at no.3 for pertusis but the next day it was at 300. I made some posts in a forum and in reply they said that it was back at 4th position.
Now again it is at 3rd place. Strange! |

there are post says that MSN love new sites, it seems that some new sites get ranked well at the beginning and then get swept out for no reason. I would suggest don't overoptimize your page, it could harm your ranking

MSN loves new websites but it loves new web pages created in old websites as well.

I guess, put in one word, MSN loves fresh content

My site (powerseeker.co.uk) was #1-8 for car insurance quote / cheap car insurance on MSN for a few years then in May - it went!
There is unique content on my site, I just dont understand, doing ok in Google but not very good on Yahoo.... Can't even say MSN are offending at affiliates because my other aff sites are fine which have much less content (and far less regular), something in their algo is not liking our sites.. |

this thread concludes that Fresh content is MSN's latest love.

I'm not ready to conclude that. My main business site is about 2 1/2 years old. I haven't made changes in at least 6 months. I was normally #2 or #3 for my most important KWs. I totally disappeared for a few weeks, came back at #5, disappeared again, and back at #2. Been there for a couple of weeks. I believe that fresh content may help, but I'd look at the possibilty of over-optimization. Others have reported that easing off 'on-page' has helped. Who knows? Worth looking at though. /*tom*/ |
