Possibly the new MSN algo?
Microsoft published a paper outlining what may be a part of their new upcoming algorithm. Check out my summary of it at seo-scoop.com (titled Block Level Link Analysis).

Interesting. It would seem that links embedded in the content would have more value than those at the tale end of a site. Whether they use this or not, it won't mean much until they gain traffic. Over the long haul I'm not betting against them. One thing for certain now, as seen in web analytics reports, when you look at the volume of traffic from IE versus all other browsers and then look at the search traffic...MS certainly leaks searchers! |

That is an excellent find DD! Thank You for making it public.
What makes the whole thing very interesting is that at one state of SEOChallenge/NU competition I tought I saw Google using similar technique while buidling up the related: network for my NU site. Back then it was hammered down, but maybe the things change.... -2k-

Thanks Donna. This paper is very interesting.
But, if they are actually going to use this, then they are doing the same problem again. They are making the algorithm public! Now, everyone will start to think of a way to deceive the new algorithm! I think those algorithms should best be kept a secret... Hmm... unless this paper is actually a decoy, and Microsoft is prepairing a totally different algorithm, that is still kept a secret! |

Hey DD, always enjoyed your posts. And this one is just as useful and thank you for it. It's the way you did it that puzzles me... Are you peddling an other site? As a mod it should have been your job to kick out someone who tried to pull that! Shouldn't it? |

LOL, you are probably right. I was too lazy to copy/paste it here. My hand is slapped.

Thanks for being so candid Now, back to the subject on hand... It really does make a lot of sense. You said "...Similar to original PageRank algorithm...." and I am sure G* will eventually work it's way up there as it does make a lot of sense. My site is very focused on one type of mortgage loan, that type of mortgage loan requires a very specialized type of insurance. Since I come up 2nd in G* for the mortgage’s search term it should follow that after covering for that type of insurance in one of the pages and linking it to an other page that covers the insurance only should make the insurance page very strong for that specific type of insurance keywords. assuming a well crafted page. But at present NO Such luck. I am sure there are a lot of related subjects like that for most web sites. raz |

I'll believe it when I see it. Microsoft seems to have a habit of saying one thing and doing another. Anything will be better than what they have right now.
