No traffic from msn
I receive about 100 organic search engine traffic from google daily for one website, but have no search engine traffic from msn and very little from yahoo. My site has been indexed both yahoo and msn. What should I improve so that I can get organic traffic msn and yahoo too? Many thanks for your help!

You should be happy you have traffic from google. Google gives more traffic than msn.

Even the most successful websites in terms of traffic generate a bulk of traffic from Google, and to some extent yahoo, least from MSN.

Different search engines have different strategy for ranking Google more depends on link building, yahoo on page and off page MSN is some time likes Keywords in URL and other on page factor. But don't worry about msn one of my corporate website well ranking in Google I am getting more traffic from Google and getting more inquiry from Google so more business. Not getting traffic from yahoo and MSN. But we are happy. |

Fact is, 90 to 95% people used google.com and only 5% people used MSN and Yahoo for their search query. Thus automatically you can expect good result from google and target google.com for your keywords.

Absolutely agree with those that say Live is still an also-ran. Lately the traffic does seem to be increasing and much to our surprise the CR of Live traffic is significantly higher (as many here and elsewhere indicated it would be). Traffic overall from live is real small.

MSN algorithm sometimes tricky, It's much easier to rank or index in Google and Yahoo. But I don't know much either MSN indexing methods but I will let you know if something came up.

it also depends on how many people uses a certain search engine...

in my experience, if you do rank well in Google, you rank well too in MSN. Although this is not 100% accurate. Yahoo seems to follow a very unique algorithm. But I suggest to focus only in Google 1st as it comprises around 80% of the site traffic approximately.

OK so I am going to be different here. MSN likes really fresh links and updates. that will help your site fairly quickly. MSN also likes internal site structure using the anchor text links for describing internal site pages MORE than Yahoo does.
I get more traffic from Google, but I get more SALES from MSN traffic. Go figure! |
