No idea how...

My site made page 1 of 23,596,259 results containing "counterstrike". Truthfully I have no idea how I accomplished this. What am I doing right? I have a few backlinks from generous sites with the same theme and that is about it.

All I can tell you from my own experience is I find accidental rankings to be truly the best.

I made my first accidental page several years ago, I was selling my old car online and I really did it to show pictures so potential buyers could see... I never intended for it to show on the engines, but it held a number 1 spot for keyphrase 'yyyy make model' on EVERY engine for a looong time, and even thou the car sold almost 2 years ago, it continues to hold top 5 rankings (thou not on all engines anymore).
I used to get over 100 visitors/month from it, I'm selling my next car online for sure LOL !

Just goes to prove how some of this SEO stuff is a lot of alphabet soup. Best I can tell you is keep building your site with the attitude you had when building the 'cs' page, likely you were not worried about the engines at the time you built it, and this I find to be the best way to attract tonnes of ppls (course, sometimes nothing happens, hehe).

I did, in time, understand how a true doorway page is built is to make a page about a subject and to cover said subject with complete disregard towards the engines. I built a few more like it later, each page about a subject I knew something about, wrote helpful articles and let it fly = free traffic :-) But it really has to be a decent page, not some keyword stuffed thing AND not all of them work so good, in my case one works even better than the car page, the other 3-4 do not.

Perhaps in your case, a maps page... Or a hints and tips page, or even screenshots might work (thou you might have those already), it's usually something along those lines.

Last but not least, the doorway page really should be a part of your site. In the end, it's really just another linked page that has something to do with the whole picture because engines DO index more than your main page, it is even possible a secondary page gets more traffic than your main (thou I find this to be rather rare).

oh, 'n gratz !

Thank you very much for the feedback! I do get more people coming to my Gallery than my main page where I have screenshots, player demos and maps. I am doing this for fun, it is incredable how much there is to learn! Thank you again!
