Question MSNbot is crawling our sites everyday.

Hi,

I see that MSN really has picked up the pace with their beta spider. Most of the pages on the web sites we manage are crawled everyday. I would estimate that MSN is four or five times as active as Google.

Do anyone else have any comments or insights on this.
I wonder how large the MSN index will be when it becomes available trough a search interface.

Any and all comments are highly appreciated. :-)

Noticed the same thing. MSNBots on crack! Never thought I would see the days that MSNBot was more active than Googlebot.

Now to only slip Yahoo something.

Hey,
MSN has been crawling my sites lately also. I'd say it has
crawled about 70,000+ and it's still crawling. Should I let it keep crawling?
or is it just waisting my bandwidth ? Another thing I'm working on
changing my URL scheme giving it a new look, should I keep the old URL
scheme + just implement the new one or should I get rid of the old one
and just go with the new one? All my indexed pages have the old URL
format, what would you guys/girls suggest?

Hi,

I do not know. I would not be comfortable blocking MSN for any reason.

Whats bandwidth???

Honestly that was going to be my reply but I know alot of people will be goin' "You dont know what bandwidth is?!!?" and junk like that so the point is:

Is MSN really eating up that much bandwidth that you'll exceed any insane number of GBs your host gives you? There. Happy?

301 redirect all your old pages to your new ones to keep backlinks and value of those pages.

MSNbot is still going strong.

I wonder if they intend to crawl the entire web every 24 hours?

This is nuts.

... Until MSN starts giving me some numbers in the referrals area I think all this talk is interesting, but immaterial. Once they start using their "new" relevant serps maybe I will get excited. Want them to crawl the hell out of my site, but I am into results.
