MSNbot at the site but not helping

I noticed MSN bot is at the site a lot. But I can't seem to find anything we are ranking well for. I have no idea how MSN works but it is driving me nuts. All these visits with nothing in return.

Same here. MSNbot visits me more than googlebot. But no results.

Most of my keywords have my site in the top 5 at msn. Just as well considering the amount of bandwidth the msn bot is using up.

this is happening for a lot of people.

most people think msn is gathering data to use internally at first.

MSBOT is a Beta. The information it gathers has no effect on the MSN SERPs, they are still provided by Yahoo. When MSN launch their own indexing system then MSBOT will come into play.

Hello,

Derryt is right. There are some reson to believe that MSN will let it's current contract run out before they go live. I hae heard some rumors that they will have a superb image and media search. I am so looking forward to the new MSN search.

You will know it when MSN finally launches its results from their new bot and algo. Don't look for impact to their current serps until they do. Should be interesting.

I know Microsoft has announced search as a major goal for them - have they said when they plan to roll out the 'new' search technology results?

As far as I know there has been no date set, but, with as active as the MSNbot has been, it should be close. How close?????

Question Hmm

I didn't realize this. Do you think I should disallow it? I would hate for that to hurt me with msn. Its not really that big of a deal. I still get more hits from google but it is there quite a bit. I have atleast a couple thousand hits this month from the msnbot.

I wouldn't disallow it. MSNbot is likely to become very important when MSN start using its results.

If you have bandwidth problems do it; if not don't bother with him, it won't hurt your site(s).

I would not disallow Google, Yahoo, or MSN. Let them take a bite out of your site whenever they have a mind to.
