MSN & Yahoo results
Seems like the MSN and Yahoo results are quite identical, is that because they use similar technology SLURP to index and rank the pages. I heard that MSN will be coming out with their own SE, is there any evidence of that ?

MSN was running a tech preview search page for a while. This has now been taken down so that MSN can tweak their results.

give msn time to launch their new search. It took Yahoo years to get their search right for launch... you can expect big things from msn, thats for sure.

I know that Y and MSn share Inkotmi results but why is it that I come up #16 in Y and wayyyy down in the serps for MSN? Also my Homepage is the onlypage found by MSN. When I type in my other internal pages it doesn't find them in their index? My site is 84 days old. Any Ideas??

I find the same things with MSN lagging Yahoo for the same terms; I wonder if they just update less frequently or have a lag to yahoo?

There seems to be a link between MSN and Yahoo. Occasionally when my site disappears from the MSN index it also vanishes from Yahoo (search not directory), similarly when it re-appears, it does so on both sites at the same time. Odd,huh.

My site vanished a few days ago and reappeared again today. The same thing has happened about three weeks ago only for the site to reappear several days later. I am sure you have heard it before, but sites vanishing from the index happens with pretty much all SEs so I would not worry about it. Its not a big problem for me since I hardly get any visitors refered by Yahoo and no-one use the new MSN SE yet. See if you can ride it out, my guess is that both Y & MSN are tinkering with their index, which results in obvious hick-ups.
Good luck. |

I hope so for your sake. Yahoo has been all over the place, no rhyme or reason. If you want good results, spam and black hat. Seems Y likes cloaked, redirecting pages. I think they are feeling the pressure with MSN developing their own search which looks a lot better.

To be honest I really can't figure out whats happening with Yahoo at the mo. The results change very often and there is little consistency from day to day except the amount of Spam they manage to show.
