Ok,

Yahoo: links keyword desinty alogn with links pointed to the page, will also take links from within the site and multiple links from other sites to increase rankings. Both the density and links play a factor in Yahoo.

MSN: it all about the links, kw density doesn't affect MSN and like Yahoo they will take as many links as you can point at your site.

Overview, get links and lots of them pointed to your site, do good dendity as it won't hurt MSN and it will be needed for Yahoo.

linking strategy

Shailesh,

The days of 'Pr 4 or better' linking are long gone .... Remeber that what you are trying to simulate is the organic link growth of an authority site. Organic links come in varied link text and pr values some old sites and some new. The best long term strategy (IMHO) is to stay related to the market in which you operate but to get a good mix of different pr values of link.

There is much speculation on whether or not google msn or yahoo use a themeatic modifiyer to calculate the serps inpact of your links. What you can reasonably rely on is that if they are not using it yet they probably will at some point.

Whilst you can always plumb for the short term fix always keep your eye on the end goal.

P.S. Since msn ranks sites very differently i am not sure i would even consider using pr as an identifier for strong links in msn ( bar PR values 7 and above)

Cheers,

Broker Boy

With regard to IBL, both Yahoo and MSN do not seem to care much about where they come from, i.e., you do not have to get IBL from websites in the same theme. Also Yahoo and MSN seem to count pretty much any IBL on the web. Certainly, you don't want to work on SEO as you ignore themed linking and your neighborhood, but I think it's important to remember that Yahoo and MSN do not seem to care much.

So Links from Forum Signatures count just as much as a link from any other site or do they care less weight? Just wondering cuz i am active on a couple of forums and have lots of links from one or two forums but they are not helping me (ranked 725 for my keyword in Yahoo :-( )

If you participate in a dozen or so forums actively for some time and keep your sig links up, you'll see some result. It doesn't mean that you should rely on sig links. You really shouldn't for variety of reasons, BUT it's pretty clear that sig links are pretty effective in Yahoo and MSN as of today.
