msn update

does anybody noticed an update?
my site now is top 1 for a keyword which mostly drive more traffic..so happy!

Yes, I noticed it. I lost a few spots.

msn is nowadays getting updated now and then. suddenly you climb up steadily and sometimes drop down. suddenly you are 1, you are happy, the next week you will be at 8 wondering why did i lose 8 positions?
This is what happening to me...

I wouldn't get too excited. We rank No. 1 on MSN for a number of our target KW's but get very little traffic from it. Especially compared to Google where we don't rank so well but get around 10 times more referalls.

Its a shame because I think it's a nice SE. Many predict MSN could gain considerable ground with Microsoft's plans to integrate search into their OS. Time will tell.

Mmm, i made Rank 1 with one of my sites, but i almost get 0 traffic from msn :-(

yes, top 1 for my secondary kw..same here, ranking not pretty well on google its because of the sandbox but G has lots of refferals with variation of my secondary kw's...

I bounce all over the place on MSN, sometimes #2, sometimes #42... go figure

To me, it seems that SERPs change frequently, maybe once a week or so.

Over the past 2 weeks I dropped from #1 to #2 to #3. Coincidentally, I lost about 25% of my links about 2 months ago. I've been re-building since. So, it will be interesting to see if my #1 position returns in another month or so.

While I don't get a lot of traffic from M$N, it makes up about 15% of my SE referrals. Interestingly, I haven't seen any less traffic at the #3 spot than I did at the #1 spot.

I used to see changes on a daily bases but its been considerably quieter for the past 2 weeks. We've been through a rollercoaster for the past 6 months as well. From 1st to 31st and back. Right now we are 3rd.
I don't think links is a major factor. There used to be a site in #1 position with 1000 BLs when I had 30 times more. I think M's engineers constantly changing the algo and trying out different filters but this activity should diminish as time passes by.
I wish their relevancy improved so they can attract more users. With their budget I wonder why MSN is not being marketed at all? The only time I saw a commercial was back during the Superbowl which makes me think if they are serious about this SE thing? Competitors are not sleeping. Y has been improving constantly. I see their relevancy improve greatly over the past month or so. Its just a shame to see yourself in top 3 and get so few visitors from them. And on top of that, conversion rate from those few is very low.

Longhorn is supposed to come out this year, so maybe your MSN ranking will benefit you in the near future....they have already integrated MSN search into their messenger software

Longhorn was recently pushed back to Q4 2006, just FYI.

I am first at some keywords at MSN and between 10 and 20 at Google, I am getting the same traffic for both.
