MSN Traffic

I noticed about two weeks ago my serps went bye bye.

Anyone else experience this or does anyone know the cause?

I was ranking 1 for many keywords now only keyphrase are pulling in traffic.

Constant tweaks in MSN with frequent re-caching makes for many fluctuations -- so far I think it is being done well (even though it doesn't always benefit me). One error is with the sub-domain garbage. There's a guy in some of my industries that has a bunch of domains, to which he affixes a sub-domain that acts as a cloaked redirect. Put enough link power behind it and he'll get temporary rankings all over the map...that needs to be fixed.

ya, they defintely have some tweeking to work on.

when i search for 'tennessee accident lawyers' there is some guy who has a page for all 50 states w/different domain names.... almost all 50 of those show up in the SERPs... none of those are even relevant to 'tennesee' .... weak.

http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=tennessee+accident+lawyers&FORM=QBRE

I think they tweeked the Onpage optimization factors such as keyword density. I changed mine from 12% to 6% and it went down to position 60 and back up to position 3 in about 2 weeks with no real work on anything else. i have been between position 3 and 4 or the last 2 weeks.

Thanks,
Ptdirect

Yap Yap - I have noted a significant drop in MSN traffic. Rankings fine, traffic gone. Went to check it out and the MSN site froze my browser up...lol

Worse than that, on my laptop MSN continually loads a page that says "do you want to change MSN to your home page" on every fresh reboot and first load of i.e. Got to the point I had to block the ip addresses on that computer. :-x

God....starting to like Yehaa more and more...lol but google is still satan in my book!

We tank top 2 for our keyword on MSN and we get about 1/3 the traffic that we do from Yahoo! and Google.

Over all MSN has been good to us. Most of the keywords we did not have #1 or first page on Google we have in MSN, and the sites that are trash in Google do not make the list. Im happy!

MSN serps have went into the toilet with this last update. They still need to address the spammy url/black hat sites that still have good rankings on MSN. They love spam almost as much as Yahoo. They also like doorway websites too. Pull them up and its nothing but a giant doorway page to another site. All the rage lately. Alas, I'm sure they'll clean it up eventually.

During some weeks I was really happy to observe the .msn Search results for "link:www.mydomain.com". Links were growing, all fine.
Now, since last week, the number of links is diminishing...
I d like to freak out! What is happening??
Please, could anybody let me know what msn is up to? Is it possible that some links that were counted by msn DISAPPEAR in numbers of tens within a week?

Thank you for your first aid answers & Cheers.

It's good to see people worried about their MSN serps, shows they must be doing something right. I've gotten a lot of traffic from them lately.

Subnet,

as I said, there was something WRONG, with MSN lately, a few days ago.
My backlinks did not increase as they should have. In fact, from Friday through Sunday, they were all totally down, I had LESS Backlinks. Hilarious"

In the meantime it got updated again but it still seems to me as if there is a loss in backlinks.

Do u have comments for this??

- What do you mean with getting traffic from msn? you mean by simply being indexed or by having backlinks in msn groups?

Thank you and cheers.

Tracking the Links

Hi ,

I faced same problem .

Over hundread links dropped from altavista and allthe web that too in a day.

While one of the site had opposite thing happening.

I see lot of changes in MSN and alltheweb.

I read an article claiming "Linking is queen and content is King"

But dear queen seems not to be trustworthy.

I usualy use uptime for geeting info on linkdomain and backlinks.
I see rise in linkdomain but very little increase in link:www.domain.com

Till now I am not able to analyse this may be I will have to audit all the incomming list and then check

Solution seems to be Get incomming links from Forums , news sites , review sites , articles , blogs I mean from varied sites with related theme.

Don't rely on linkexchange schemes that can be disastrous.

Get few links but of quality there is a win win situation .
Plz comment!
