In my niche it looks like they are going purely on backlink anchor text quantity.

O yeah, MSN put me back where I belong: #1 spot
Can't wait what the results are from the eCom jury, hehe. |

This just further shows the importance of optimizing for Google right now. I have only optimized for google (because it is number one) and any time I check Yahoo, MSN, Ask, etc I am #1, even if I am #30 in Google.
If I keep working until I am #1 in Google on difficult terms, it will just further solidify my position in the "others". Now , if only the others actually starting delivering some traffic |

I predict a bit of a buzz around this one though... It might just take off, if only because of the extensive link: list it coughs up. If SEOers think this is great, it could become important in time (that, and the fact it will prob. be integrated into Windows next release).

Wow, MSN shows over 2000 links for me while Google is around 235. Personally, I preffered when Google used to show links that were PR4+, as this was much more useful. I wouldn't have any use for the amount of links that MSN displayed. Its only use may be the actual number, not the list it generates.

Well I'm happy. For some reason current MSN only has the homepage indexed for one of our sites (as oppossed to 1000 pages in Google), despite frequent visits from MSN bot. New version has 430 pages indexed. Go figure!
We had planned to do some research to see why MSN wasn't indexing but maybe we won't need to if this goes live soon. Any ideas when it is due to launch? |

The MSN bot actually crawled for this one. Regular MSN Search uses Yahoo's Slurp. Finally we can see what MSN-bot has been doing all over our sites...

My new 60 days old website is nowhere to be found in google for my keyword.
But how about the msn tech preview, you ask? #1 / 305,165,008 Moahaha! Edit: And my directory is #7 for the search website directory. Last edited by jontelofot : October 11th, 2004 at 06:04 PM. |

The index is quite fresh, only week old changes are showing up along with new pages added to the website.

I'm happy to see we are #1 for our category. What is wierd is that MSN reports about 15 x the number of references to the keywords as do Yahoo or Google. As referenced elsewhere MSN also reports significantly more backlinks than any other search engine.
MSN's spiders must be on something!! Dave |
