MSN starts to love me

Since the beginning of this month MSN is finally showing me some love. Still no traffic like Google but I am amazed. I thought almost noone was using MSN but apparently I was wrong...

Percentage of visitor referrals this month:
Google 17%
MSN 6%

Almost a third of the traffic Google brings in and still climbing. Ok, the domain I am talking about still is a bit 'sandboxed' for a few keywords but still. About 75 visitors a day from MSN for a site with less close to 100 pages, I like it

It varies according to keyword, but yes, MSN can be very valuable. I use MSN all the time when I'm looking for content that was probably recently posted to the web.

I gotta say though - the difference between the number of visitors I have coming from MSN pale in comparison to Google...
Especially when I'm ranked #1 on MSN for a fairly well searched term (all search engines taken into account) and ranked #7 for a fairly obscure phrase on Google - I still get at least 6 times the traffic from that Google listing.
But until I get out of the Google sandbox for my other, more popular search terms, I'll take what I can get!

it's true - MSN only provides a fraction of the traffic that G does... but when sandboxed you have to take what you can get.

I try to create sites that can operate slightly above break even on MSN traffic alone, and when they are eventually ranked in Y and G, the profits roll in. It can be a slow process, which I usually expect to take about a year, but it is definitely worth it.

I'm ranked quite good on MSN for some term ( #1 - > #10 ) and the traffic amount is noticeable, yet conversions are worse than Yahoo! or Google traffic, but I strive to believe it is because of the site theme. Still, traffic is traffic and it should be converted, so never disconsider MSN as a source of traffic no matter how less traffic you get from it.
