MSN ranking
My site launched in just 30 days back is in top 10 position in MSN for my keyword.
But i am nowhere in TOP 500 in Google and yahoo. Evrything is ok as per optimization guidelines. No spamming at all. What could be the reason? |

You need to wait quite a while to get anywhere in Yahoo and Google. Likely you will have your site sandboxed in google for the first 6 months and yahoo can be painfully slow to update it's index. But you have made a flying start with MSN - Well Done

sandboxed for 6 month!! I heard its 2-3 month. 6 month is too long. I launched new website for my new product. Is it advisable for put website on my company website which is 3 years old to avoid 'sandbox' effect? Its already indexed but has low page rank. Thanks for your promp reply. |

That is how google has been now for the last year unfortunately. One of my sites came out of the sandbox around 6 weeks ago when it was just over 6 months old - others here also report similar time frames.
Concentrate on building your content and links in the mean time. Also do not put all your eggs in one basket and get in the trap of solely relying on one source i.e google for your traffic. This is a big mistake as an algo change could wipe out any good rankings you achieve, overnight. |

you can use marketleap.com to keep up with back links, keyword placement and Site Saturation. Webposition Gold has a free 30 day trial. There is another really good one that analyizes your competition and how hard you will have to work for your keyword but i dont know the site off the top of my head. I think its my randfish . |

One year? Six months is starting to not sound too bad. We will be rolling out a new site soon, hopefully I won't have to wait that long to get a decent google ranking.

IMO forget about Google its like waiting on DMOZ to add you. Just bad business on their part. At some point people will see this and abandon Google because of all its problems.
Go after MSN and Yahoo, if Google picks you up rock on, if not forget them! Google may have lots of traffic, but why stress over getting it when you can produce quality and get something in return from MSN and Yahoo within a couple months at most. All the sites that I have developed this year are rocking on MSN and Yahoo, still sitting around for Google to update its PR, BL, SERPS and whatever else they cant manage to do because they are trying to force people to join Adwords.

well said egol.
there are many tools to help you out in the process. my favorites are digitalpoints keyword suggestion tool (find out how many searches are going on) - http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion digitalpoint's keyword checker (keep track of your search results without having to find them manually) - http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/ MCDar's datacenter checker (let's you see all the google datacenters and where you rank) - http://www.mcdar.net/dance/index.php and ALL of the SEOchat tools but, like egol said, you need to use your brain a lot of the time to figure out SEO... it's not rocket science afterall...just a lot of hard work... Good Luck.

This is a fantastic tool. I especially like you only need to enter in your root domain and the tool will check keywords across the site. Found that out by accident but a very convenient feature! |
